Run Away with Canola Oil

Sports dietitians in the June 2011 issue of Runner’s
World said the good fats and antioxidants in heart-healthy oils are
very beneficial to runners. By consuming them in moderation, your body can
better absorb vitamins and reduce the risk of heart disease (when used in place
of saturated fat). Canola oil in particular is high in vitamin E, which helps
reduce free radical damage, and has the least amount of saturated fat of all
cooking oils. A registered dietitian noted: "Vitamin E is not in a lot of
fruits and vegetables. So a heart-healthy source like canola oil is a good way
to get it into your diet."

Chef Carla Hall Reels in Media Interest for
CanolaInfo
On
May 13, Carla Hall of "Top Chef," CanolaInfo spokesperson, showcased
her "Go Fish with Canola Oil" recipe and video collection during a
Satellite Media Tour. She was interviewed by more than 25 television stations
in markets from Dallas to Boston, reaching over 2.4 million viewers. On May 17,
Hall participated in a Radio Media Tour with nearly 20 stations nationwide,
including Los Angeles and Chicago. Later that day, she hosted a "Go Fish
Twitter Party" from CanolaInfo’s account. The virtual party lasted 90
minutes and the first 25 tweeters received a CanolaInfo apron signed by Hall.

reduced risk of various medical conditions. Good sources of omega-3 fats
include cold-water fish like salmon and tuna, walnuts and canola oil.

Quick Fixes for Kids’ Health

With 20 percent of U.S. children now obese, it’s more important
than ever to make sure their diets are healthy. The long-term goal is to get
children to make proper food choices, but there are some good quick fixes as
well. Baking foods instead of frying them is key and when you need oils, turn
to canola oil instead of margarine or butter – children will consume much less
saturated fat and get a good dose of vitamin E and omega-3 fat as a result.
