Canola oil a symbol of Canada? – It seems that in the mind of at least one Indian travel writer, canola oil is an iconic Canadian food, right up there with poutine and beaver tails. Reshmi Dasgupta writes in The Economic Times, a publication of The India Times, about canola oil’s healthy attributes, its light flavour, and its familiarity to Indian consumers.

“Talking of golden Canadian liquids, the chances are you might actually have some in your house... Not just ice wine — or even that pale Canada Dry ginger ale! — but canola oil …” Dasgupta begins.
