Winnipeg - The major players in North America’s multi-billion dollar canola industry will meet in Florida, March 9 - 11, with their colleagues in soy, sun, cotton and palm.
The Canola Council of Canada will hold its 41st annual convention in partnership with the annual convention of the National Institute of Oilseed Products. In total, about 350 people representing all facets of the global oilseed industry will discuss issues of mutual interest including growing sustainability, adding value to vegetable oil and selling consumers on healthy food.
The Canola Council convention, dubbed Canola! Growing a Healthier World, is focused on exploring innovation in sustainable canola agronomics and canola oil for food and beyond.
The NIOP convention will contribute a joint panel discussing global oilseed production and use and will co-sponsor the keynote speaker Daniel Esty, author of Green to Gold: How smart companies use environmental strategy to innovate, create value and build competitive advantage.
Other speakers at the Canola Council convention include Richard Ellis, McDonald’s USA, who’ll discuss the greening of the golden arches and Tom Scott, Informa Economics, who’ll outline his economist’s vision for canola’s future.
Medical and lifestyle reporter Dr. Christine Dumas will lead an afternoon featuring canola’s role in promoting good health. Peter Jones, Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals, and Shirley Yin-Piazza, American Heart Association, will anchor the Living a Healthier Life panel to follow.
