Jim Everson joins Canola Council in Ottawa office

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Jim Everson is Vice-President of Corporate Affairs for the Canola Council of Canada in Ottawa. His appointment is effective April 1, 2008.

Canola Council President JoAnne Buth says Everson will represent Canada’s $14 billion canola industry in the capital on issues of major political and regulatory importance.

Everson says he’s looking forward to “advancing the canola trade agenda and helping to increase canola product use both domestically and around the world”.

The new canola advocate has extensive experience dealing with government issues for private companies, associations and non-profit groups for over 15 years.

Following seven years as a political advisor in the federal government, including being Chief of Staff to the Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board, Everson worked with a major Ottawa-based government relations company, eventually moving into the role of President.

In 1998, he established his own government relations and public affairs practice, Everson Public Affairs, working successfully with a variety of clients over the past decade.

Everson was raised on a cash crop and beef farm in eastern Ontario. He has a B.A. (Honours) from Queen's University.
