Canola growers and agronomists looking for just-in-time information to help manage the 2008 canola crop can count on free weekly Canola Watch e-reports from the Canola Council of Canada again this year. Distribution of the 2008 reports will begin the last week of April.
“With growing a profitable canola crop being so dependent on timely crop management, our number one focus is to continue to provide canola growers and agronomists with in-season, just-in-time information,” stresses John Mayko, agronomic specialist for western Alberta.
The weekly reports provide details of what is occurring in the field and also give tips and information that will help in identification and management of key issues as they arise in the field.
Canola Watch is prepared through the Canola Agronomy Network led by the Canola Council’s crop production team of agronomy specialists plus provincial oilseed specialists. The Network includes agronomists, extension specialists, growers, and industry retailers, who take part in weekly conference calls from late April to early September.
